Eligibility:                      This program is open to all English-speaking adults who are 19 years of age or older and currently reside in Ontario.  This program is not recommended for anyone who has completed high school or has post secondary education. Must call to book an appointment where an assessment will be made over the phone.

Service description:      Multiservice centre * programs include English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, academic upgrading, Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS)* one on one tutoring
The Literacy and Basic Skills program is divided into five levels corresponding from Grade 1 to the end of Grade 9, focusing on reading, writing and math.  Basic computer instruction is also included.  The Toronto Distrcit School Board (TDSB) works with other literacy providers through the Local Literacy Council (Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy) to ensure that members of all communities have access to literacy training.
The Literacy and Basic Skills course is designed for anyone wanting to improve their skills in reading, writing or math.   Suitable candidates would be goal-oriented, with an aim toward employment, or further training or education, or independence

Growing Up Healthy Downtown (GUHD), Ready for School Connects (RfSC) RfSC is a school readiness program for newcomer families living in downtown Toronto and is offered each summer at four GUHD locations. Includes a school readiness program for children and a parent workshop series. Children must be attending school in September to participate in the summer programs.
