On Tuesday, October 9, the City of Toronto’s Executive Committee met to review Councillor Bailao’s special working group report on Toronto Community Housing single family homes. One short year ago, City Council was considering selling over 600 buildings, home to around 1,000 residents. Fortunately, Council rejected the massive sell off of these important homes. Among its recommendations, the special working group called for measures to address repair issues while saving the great majority of the homes. As a compromise position, the report recommends the sale of 55 buildings, home to about 80 families. The Executive Committee accepted the recommendations of the special working group. The issue now goes to City Council for a final vote at its October 30/31 meeting.
