Event Planning 101 Training

In this interactive workshop, we will cover the foundations of running a great event guided by facilitators who have produced both large and small scale events. Get helpful tips, an event planning checklist, a free event planning toolkit, and all the skills and knowledge you need to plan high impact events!

A light dinner and TTC tokens / parking reimbursement will be provided. Childcare will be provided upon request.

This workshop is only open to grant recipients of the City of Toronto's Neighbourhood Grants Program who are providing events from February 2018 to July 2018.

Facilitators:

Phylicia Davis is an active member of the East Scarborough community where she runs a community-based adult learning program called the KGO Adult Literacy Program. She is the Co-Chair of the Spotlight on Literacy Planning Committee and is a Board Member with Parkdale Project Read. Phylicia has her Masters in Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto. Her group was successful in receiving a City of Toronto Neighbourhood grant in 2018 to celebrate the KGO Adult Literacy Program's 5th year anniversary.

Noora Sagarwala is the Touring and Audience Development Officer at the Ontario Arts Council. As an arts manager with over 15 years of experience, Noora has coordinated both large-scale multidisciplinary and international festivals as well as local community engagement initiatives. She has held positions at Manifesto, the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, the National Arts Centre, and the Canada Dance Festival. Noora completed an MBA from the Schulich School of Business where she received the Joe Green Founder’s Award in Arts & Media.
