Grant Writing Basics - Morning Session

This workshop will take you through the basics of putting together a clear and effective grant application. We will break down and explore the main parts of a funding application including the written questions, work plan and budget, and share tips on how to create a strong application that will also be useful when you carry out your project. Activities will be used to help you put your learnings into practice, and a toolkit will be provided.

Facilitators:  Shahina Sayani is the Senior Community Planner at Social Planning Toronto. She has 15 years of experience as a funder, executive director, community development worker, facilitator, consultant and researcher.  Khairiya Ahmed is a resident and leader in Lawrence Heights. She is a member of many resident-led groups that have received funding from the Neighbourhood Grants program. She passionate about mentorship and supporting grassroots groups to make change in their communities, including Ujaama Youth Group, who has also received two City of Toronto Neighbourhood grants. Khairiya's goal is to empower residents and youth across GTA.

Please arrive by 9:30am to register and have a light breakfast. TTC tokens will be provided.

Childcare will be provided for children ages 3 and up. When you register, please let us know how many children you are bringing and their ages.
