Provincial election 2025 fact sheets

On February 27, cast your vote for a more equitable province

The provincial election will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Social Planning Toronto is proud to provide the voting public with nonpartisan resources, including issue-specific campaigns and advocacy, voter engagement resources, advocacy platforms and campaigns, and platform analysis and election tracking.

We will also be hosting our own community engagement events, which you can learn more about on our 2025 Elections Event Calendar

We've produced fact sheets highlighting three crucial issues. How we vote on Feb. 27 will determine whether all Ontarians have:

  • safe, affordable, and accessible homes,
  • better social supports, fair wages, and high-quality public and nonprofit employment services, and
  • a safe, healthy province.

On February 27, vote for the right to housing and shelter for all

Ontario is in a housing crisis, and homelessness rates are soaring. More provincial funding is urgently needed to ensure everyone has a place to live. It’s not enough to simply increase housing supply. Weakening rent controls have allowed rents to rise dramatically, putting tenants at increased risk for displacement and homelessness.

The choices made now will decide if Ontario can offer everyone safe, affordable, and accessible homes.

On February 27, cast your vote for economic equality

Ontario is facing growing job insecurity, income inequality, and rates of poverty, made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic and cuts to public programs. Employment incomes and social assistance rates have failed to keep up with the cost of living.

The upcoming provincial election is a chance to push for better social supports, fair wages, and investments in public and nonprofit employment services.

On February 27, cast your vote to prevent overdose deaths

Supervised consumption sites (SCS) provide support to individuals experiencing an overdose and have been proven to decrease fatalities. In 2024, the Province put restrictions on these sites, banning any within 200 metres of schools and daycares. This means 10 of the 17 sites across Ontario will close, including 5 in Toronto.

The decision to shut down SCS will have devastating impacts on individuals who rely on the lifesaving services they provide.

The upcoming provincial election is an opportunity for you to vote for a safer, healthier province.
