2026 Toronto Election Resources

The City of Toronto will be holding an election on Monday, October 26.

This is an opportunity to vote for Mayor, as well as for the Councillor who will represent your ward on City Council. It is also an opportunity to vote for School Board Trustee.

Social Planning Toronto is proud to provide the voting public with nonpartisan resources, including issue-specific campaigns and advocacy, voter engagement resources, advocacy platforms and campaigns, and platform analysis and election tracking.

Voting Basics

The City of Toronto website is the official election resource, and contains information on how, when, and where to vote.

Who Can Vote

You are eligible to vote if you are:

  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • at least 18 years old; and
  • a resident in the city of Toronto; or
  • a non-resident of Toronto, but you or your spouse own or rent property in Toronto; and
  • not prohibited from voting under any law.

Advance Voting

Advance voting will take place from Tuesday, October 6 to Sunday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mail in Voting

Voters can request a mail-in voting package between September 1 and 24 and once approved, it will be mailed to them along with a prepaid return envelope. The completed package must be received by Toronto Elections by noon (12 p.m.) on October 14. More information about mail-in voting will be available in September.

A full list of registered candidates is available on the City of Toronto website. The final day to register to run is Friday, August 21.

Have Your Say: Shape Disability Inclusion in City of Toronto’s 2026 Election (GTA Disability Coalition, August 20)

Thursday, August 20, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Virtual.

By bringing together partners who are engaged in the City of Toronto’s 2026 election, the GTA Disability Coalition's event will provide a non-partisan platform for disability community members, allies, and organizations to participate in the City of Toronto 2026 election through an intersectional disability and accessibility lens.

This event will review the city election process including accessible voting options, how to find local candidates, and issues that matter most to cross-disability communities during this election cycle. Attendees will engage in discussions about speaking points and questions for candidates as well as share ideas about how to utilize the City for All platform.

This is a registered event and spaces are limited.
