2026 Toronto Election Resources
The City of Toronto will be holding an election on Monday, October 26.
This is an opportunity to vote for Mayor, as well as for the Councillor who will represent your ward on City Council. It is also an opportunity to vote for School Board Trustee.
Social Planning Toronto is proud to provide the voting public with nonpartisan resources, including issue-specific campaigns and advocacy, voter engagement resources, advocacy platforms and campaigns, and platform analysis and election tracking.

Voting Basics
The City of Toronto website is the official election resource, and contains information on how, when, and where to vote.
Who Can Vote
You are eligible to vote if you are:
- a Canadian citizen; and
- at least 18 years old; and
- a resident in the city of Toronto; or
- a non-resident of Toronto, but you or your spouse own or rent property in Toronto; and
- not prohibited from voting under any law.
Advance Voting
Advance voting will take place from Tuesday, October 6 to Sunday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Mail in Voting
Voters can request a mail-in voting package between September 1 and 24 and once approved, it will be mailed to them along with a prepaid return envelope. The completed package must be received by Toronto Elections by noon (12 p.m.) on October 14. More information about mail-in voting will be available in September.

Note: SPT is a non-partisan organization. We do not provide endorsements.
A full list of registered candidates is available on the City of Toronto website. The final day to register to run is Friday, August 21.
Voting Under Special Circumstances
- The Local Magazine has more information about how to vote if you are a student living away from home, or if you have just recently moved.
- If you are currently unhoused or otherwise do not have a permanent address, you can use the address of your nearest shelter or drop-in. Staff at these locations should be able to provide you with information about the closest voting page. When you go to a voting location on election day, staff can help you fill out a Voters' List Amendment Application.

Toronto Together: Our City, Our Future
Tuesday, October 6, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., TMU’s Student Learning Centre (361 Yonge St., M5B 1S1), Livestream available at TheStar.com
United Way Greater Toronto (UWGT), the Toronto Star, and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) will host mayoral candidates for a pivotal discussion on the issues that matter most to Torontonians – from housing, affordability, and strong neighbourhoods to transit and public safety. The debate will be moderated by award-winning journalist and author Toronto Star columnist Edward Keenan.
Mayoral candidates who have received a 5 percent minimum level of support as determined by voting intention in an average of polls conducted between September 7 and September 24, 2026, will be invited to participate in the debate.
For residents unable to attend the debate, it will be livestreamed at TheStar.com and possible to join the conversation before and during the event using #OurCityOurFutureTO.
TMU students can register for the student ticket lottery to attend in person. No tickets or registration is required to access the livestream.
KGO Votes 2026: Community Town Hall

Residents of Kingston Road-Galloway-Orton Park are invited to attend this community town hall. Come and learn about the issues that matter most in KGO, how municipal government impacts your life, and why your vote matters.
