PlanCamp

PlanCamp will be an unconference focused on the planning, design, and governance of our cities.

What is an Unconference?

From Wikipedia: "An unconference is a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered around a theme or purpose. The term "unconference" has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as high fees and sponsored presentations."

Essentially, PlanCamp will be an open playground of ideas. Participants are free to prepare a session based on an issue, or present their research, or host a brainstorming session, there's no limit to what you can do. Don't want to prepare a session, or just want to learn and listen? You're more than welcome to come too!

Who can come to PlanCamp?

Anyone interested in cities and urban places, including (but definitely not exclusive to) citizens, urbanists, urban planners, urban designers, landscape architects, architects, politicians, lawyers, developers, NIMBYs and YIMBYs, yuppies and guppies!

When and where is Plancamp?

PlanCamp is in early in the planning process. We are in the process of forming an organizing group to get it all set up. But in general, it will hopefully be in late spring, 2009, at a venue centrally located in Toronto.
