Q&A on COVID-19 Income & Housing Supports—Now in 15 Languages!

Social Planning Toronto designed the COVIDhelpTO website to help front-line workers answer their clients’ most basic questions around financial and housing supports announced over the past few months — such as eligibility requirements for the CERB, what help is available for people having trouble paying their rent, support for those who’ve recently exhausted EI benefits, and more.

The English content has now been translated into 14 languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Farsi, French, Gujarati, Korean, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

The website is part of a partnership meant to provide holistic supports to front-line workers and their clients:

  • 5 Toronto agencies (West Neighbourhood House, Jane Finch Community Centre, Agincourt Community Services Association, Tax Preparation Service—Centre for Immigrant and Community Services, and Dixie-Bloor Community Centre) can help when clients have more complex questions
  • 211 can help clients with information and referrals around community, health, government and social services such as food banks, housing, financial assistance, and mental health supports
  • Prosper Canada’s Financial Relief Navigator has more information about benefits and supports that can help increase clients’ incomes or reduce their expenses
