Virtual Event Planning and Engagement

Virtual events come in many forms — town halls, focus groups, workshops, consultations, discussions, and more. This workshop will introduce you to the basic stages of virtual event planning, from development to outreach. It will also share various methods to make virtual events fun, interactive, accessible, and engaging.

Facilitated by SKETCH Working Arts - Lydia Hernandez and Jess De Vittoris

Lydia Hernandez is a community engaged arts facilitator living in Toronto. She is currently working at SKETCH Working Arts, a non-profit arts organization that works with youth ages 16-29. She has been running community arts programming since 2011, and has experience training youth in participatory based workshop facilitation. While most of her work was previously in person, she has adapted her work to online community engagement in response to the pandemic. Her facilitation style is flexible, and aims to increase community access to DIY approaches. Some of her favourite workshops have been; circus prop building, DIY spa, crafting and textiles.

Jess De Vitt (she/they) is a community arts mentor and visual artist based in T'karonto. Jess is an Aquarius queer mexican always looking for new ways of creating, learning and collaborating. Jess has had experience working with community through the arts offering instructional workshops for a range of mediums and art making techniques both digitally and in person.  Whenever she is not repurposing old paper and sample textiles for an art project, Jess is hanging out in the park with her two cats and her friends.
